Welcome to 2nd and 3rd Grade

Science – In 2nd grade we are going to begin to learn about simple machines.  They will be building simple machines and learning about how they work.  The 3rd graders are knee deep in learning about rocks, minerals, soil types, and landforms.  The students will have the opportunity to polish rocks in the rock tumbler this spring when they can go rock hunting.  Science Rocks!!!

Math – In 2nd grade we are learning about numbers 1-1,000.  They are learning how to read them as well as write them.  We are also learning to skip counting skill by 3's so we can jump into learning our multiplication skills. In 3rd grade we have learned our multiplication skills 0-12 and are learning to reverse these skills in division.

 History – We are working hard on our geography skills.  The kids complete a weekly geography skill sheet. 

Religion – We are learning about the old testament.  We have learned how to read the Pslams and are now going to be reading various stories from the OT to learn the basic timeline up to Jesus' time.

Reading – The students are loving the literacy workstations.  At each station they are applying the knowledge that they have learned for the last several months into real life applications.  They are creating slideshows, writing poems, grouping different words from the word wall, creating plays, performing readers theater and much more.  They are so very creative!

Writing/English - We learning how to write various poems as well as learning about adjectives.
